Drove down to Shunk and opened up the house. Started mowing the lawn.

Finished mowing the lawn, just before it started raining. Mommy arrived, and the power went out right when she got there. It was out for about 5 hours.

Snake on the path. Jason and his crew arrived in the evening.

I took the dogs for a hike around the lake, following a bear. The dogs were being very skittish and staying close to me, not running ahead up the path. We found fresh bear poop and tracks, and heard something big off in the forest, but didn't manage to catch sight of it. I did see what was either an immature bald eagle or possibly a golden eagle. Huge bird.
After the hike around the lake, i loaded up the Trooper and headed to Vermont. Just as i was going down the mountain on 154 from Wheelerville, my truck lurched a couple times, then there was this horrible screeching noise, followed by a great variety of clunky, scrapey, grindy, screechy, bad noises. I ground to a stop at the bottom of the hill and found that my rear differential was smoking. I pulled into the next house where there was a big garage, and the guy there looked at it, determining that all of the oil had leaked out of the differential because the fill bolt was only hand-tight. Way to go Jiffy-Lube!
I called Ann, and she called to find a mechanic, but no one was open on Memorial Day weekend, so the guy at the garage filled the differential up with oil and i drove it slowly and very loudly up the mountain back to Shunk. When i got there, Ann told me that Scott Quail could fix it, so i moved alll of my stuff from the Trooper to the white pickup and drove that back to VT, leaving the Trooper for Scott to fix.
Stopped at Quizno's for dinner.

Drove the pickup back down to Shunk to pick up my Trooper. Took a picture of Seera running alongside as i came back up to the lake.
