Rebecca and Sharon (two of Jason's crew who were up here over the Labor Day weekend) gave me a ride into Canton to pick up my truck with its new muffler and 4 new tires. The steel belts had started to show through on one of the old back tires!

We'd been trying to get a few old sluice pipes cut up so that we could haul them away for scrap but we couldn't find anyone to do it. Finally i decided to start up the bulldozer (a nice little JD-350C) and i smashed 'em flat. It was fun. Note the before and after pictures above.

Redid the pulley system on the treehouse so that the ropes wouldn't tangle up. Then i picked a bunch of apples off of a couple wild apple trees on our property and made some apple butter. Unfortunately i burned it a little so it has a kind of carbony taste.

Made more apple butter.

Built the structure for the last bridge on the path to the top of the lake. I had to build it in place since it was the furthest away from any access point so all the lumber had to be lugged in by hand.
|
Leveled the bridge and nailed the two halves together (it's a long bridge).

Drove down to Williamsport with the load of scrap metal. 400 pounds: 16 dollars. I bought a bunch of deck boards for the last bridge too.
|
Put the deck on the bridge. I had to run over to shunk that evening to get some of my stuff from the garage (sold some computer junk on eBay, including my old Powerbook for $64) and saw this sunset over the cornfields on my way back.
