Originally scheduled to be on kids groups, but the blue and black levels (one kid each) combined to ride with Mike after one run. I ended up with one all-day green-level adult. |
All-day blue-level—two kids in the morning, only one in the afternoon. It had snow/sleet/freezing rained overnight and none of the lifts to the summit were running all morning. The Sunburst Six started running at about noon. We did a lot of park loops in the morning and i got over to South Face for the first time in the afternoon. |
Morning private with a 12-year-old girl i had a week or so prior. I hoped to be let go early and was released after 1 o'clock line-up. |
All-day black-level lesson. Three kids—two siblings and Ella—who had ridden together with me the previous year. There was about three inches of new snow so we hunted out fresh tracks where we could. |
I was scheduled to run a new-hire training clinic, but we had to use people to teach so i was with Ella all day again. |
|
Morning lesson with Ella, i think. |
Full day lesson with a kid who didn't want to listen to any coaching and kept insisting on stopping in the Sugar House for breaks. |
Another morning with Ella (? maybe?). |
Full day with Ella. Tom, an AASI examiner from Sugarbush, tagged along with us for a couple runs in the afternoon, which made me feel a little like i was being evaluated, but it was okay. Ella came into the day after getting up at 2:15 AM to attend her school online from Switzerland. |
After the one morning adult lesson was dealt out (to another instructor), i went over to Jackson Gore and joined in with the "Blue Pod" training run by Tom from Sugarbush. I didn't feel like i got much feedback, but he made me think about my stance while riding a little bit. |

Weird day. Started with a green-level kid. Took two runs with him then pawned him off on Zach because Wayne needed me in case there were upper level adult lessons. There weren't, but there was one yellow-level who i took for about an hour until three more adults showed up late. I gave the one woman that i had to Billy and took the others for the rest of the day. |
Lots of heavy wet snow today. Slow drive on unplowed road to work, none of the lifts to the summit were running due to high winds. I had a private wath three 10-year-olds in the morning then an afternoon group of one girl. Most of the day was spent just trying to get through the chunky snow. |
All-day private lesson with a first-timer girl who was excited to learn but the snow got really packed down, so it was a slow process. She just started connecting turns on the bunny hill by the end of the day. |
Great snow. I had a group of three black-level kids and we did a lot of tree runs. |
Taught one level-threeish woman in a morning lesson, then got released after 1 o'clock line-up.

|
Morning level-1 lesson with a brother and sister, then an afternoon adult green-level lesson. |
Morning private with a level-7ish kid, then an afternoon private with a level 2ish kid. |
All-day lesson with one level-2 kid. Coldest day of the year so far, and windy. |
Started an adult level-4 lesson with four people, with Alex as a second instructor in case of a split. We stayed as one group, siphoning the only half-day student off to Cassandra. In the afternoon, Alex took one of them and i had two. |
One blue-level kid all day. We stopped a little early (as it started to snow) because his foot was hurting. |
|
Started with a one-hour 4-year-old lesson that lasted about 15 minutes. It was super cold and she was super unhappy. Took out two yellow-level adults in the morning and had one returning in the afternoon, but then another woman showed up who was at a lower level, so i took her and gave my one returner to Billy. |
Morning private at Jackson Gore, then i backlined on the afternoon groups and went home early. Still super cold. |
One black-level kid all day. It was -18°F at my house in the morning, but the fierce winds of the past two days had stopped and it warmed up to near 20° by midday. The kid wanted to ride trees, so we did Loose Spruce, Forrest Bump, Double Diamond, Supernova, and Black Hole. |
