Spent the day opening up the house; turning the water on, moving furniture out onto the porch, setting up the trampoline. Also spent some time fixing the ruts at the top of our driveway. While i was doing that i came across a man walking along the grade and we stopped and chatted for about twenty minutes. That evening, a rainstorm with really high winds ripped through and knocked the power out. I sat and read a book for a while by flashlight, then went to bed. |
Awoke to still no power and found that there was a tree down across the driveway just above the barn. It was too big to drag out of the way. I closed up the house and headed back to Vewrmont but had to make a detour around the end of the grade where two more big trees were down. |
I took a drive in the Mini today up to a quarry north of West Rutland, but there was no access to it so i couldn't get a photo of the Mini next to it, meaning no Moss Motoring Challenge points. I stopped by and visited Nikki and her new baby Ryder on my way back. |
Drove down to UMAss Amherst for D1 College Regionals. The plan was to observe the women's final, the men's final, then the women's game-to-go, but the women's final got shifted to be at the same time as the men's final, so we missed that one. I was disappointed because i wanted to watch Dartmouth play. Skippy and i observed the women's semifinal between Tufts and Vermont, which was cool because i knew a bunch of the UVM players. Tufts won that game 15-9, but then they got dismantled by Dartmouth in the final 15-3. Vermont, meanwhile played two games to universe point, beating Umass and Harvard both 11-10. Skippy and i observed the men's final, which was uneventful with the #1 seed UMass beating Brown 15-9, then the women's game-to-go, which was a rematch of Vermont vs. Tufts. Vermont was much more tired and lost 15-8. Amazingly, it rained on the entire drive down there AND the drive back, but not a drop on the fields all day. |
Drove down to Bennington for the first Hemmings Drive-in of the season. It was pretty cool, with a lot of American muscle cars and a couple more British sports cars there. Unfortunately, it took longer than i thought to get there, so, arriving late, i got parked in the back of the parking lot where you just get lined up in a row. That meant that i couldn't leave until the whole thing was over and everybody ahead of me pulled out. Oh well, it was still a nice excursion. |
Farm. |
Started reorganizing my Legos. |
Drove up to Rutland and picked up a couple more Moss Motoring Challenge points, then continued up to Chittenden Reservoir and got a couple more. Also found out today that i have a mold infection, but i have to get rid of the source (probably my house) before starting treatment. |
Finished organizing my Legos. Drove up to the Top Of The World hill and took some pics of the Mini in the sunset. |
First day of Okemo challenge course training. Lots of playing around on the challenge course doing rescues. |
Second day of challenge course training. Actually managed to haul myself up a 20-foot rope. Went over to the farm after training. |
Took a roundabout route up to Home Depot and back. |
Went for another drive to pick up a few more Moss Motoring Challenge points. |
Third day of challenge course training. Did some more rescues and retrievals, then broke early as it started to rain harder. |
Farm. |
Adventure Zone training. Learned how to run the bungee trampoline, the air bag, the climbing wall, and the mountain coaster. Overcame my fear and jumped onto the air bag. |
Had a department orientation meeting in the morning then went over to the Clock Tower base and practiced lift evacuations off of the A Quad. Went over to the farm in the rain after that. |
First day of work at Okemo. I was in the Challenge Course all day, sending people out on the course. Pretty easy work. |
Not scheduled to work. Didn't really feel like doing anything, but finally decided to take advantage of the only nice day for the next few and took a drive to scrounge up some more Moss Motoring Challenge points. |
First day of zipline training. Basically spent the day slowly going through the hle course twice. Disc golf league. Don't remember how i shot, but it wasn't well. |
